NFPA Members Connect with University Students

Programs like the NFPA Speakers Bureau are made possible in part by the generous support of industry volunteers as well as NFPA Education and Technology Foundation and Pascal Society donors. Support these efforts by making a donation.

The goal of all of our workforce programs is to help increase the number of technical college and university students educated in fluid power and connect them to careers in the fluid power industry. The NFPA Speakers Bureau program does this by directly connecting NFPA members to fluid power and mechanical engineering university classrooms.

Participating NFPA members can visit or teleconference with their local university to talk to students, especially those in mechanical engineering programs, about fluid power and the career possibilities in the industry. Preparing for your presentation is easy – NFPA can provide a draft presentation template as well as many different resources for you, and we will work with you and the university to help coordinate the visit.

The following Speakers Bureau events took place in 2019-20:

  • Deltrol Fluid Power Products at Purdue University Northwest
  • Festo Corporation at Stony Brook University
  • FORCE America at Milwaukee School of Engineering
  • Iowa Fluid Power at Iowa State University
  • Kaman Fluid Power at Purdue University
  • Parker Hannifin at Ohio University
  • Parker Hannifin at University of Cincinnati
  • Womack at Oklahoma State University

Efforts like this not only get more students aware of and excited about careers in fluid power, but can also make recruitment easier for the companies involved.

If you’re interested in being a part of the Speakers Bureau, have university contacts you’d like to share, or would like further information, please contact Amy Zignego at azignego@nfpa.com
