MSOE’s Society of Women Engineers, NFPA Members Talk Careers With High School Students

Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) has an active student organization, the Society of Women Engineers (SWE). Each year, SWE hosts an annual event called Hands-On-Future for Milwaukee area high school students. This is an event where students of any year will visit MSOE to experience three different majors of their choosing where they get to learn about the track for that program and participate in a hands-on application of what current students do within said majors. They also got to hear from guest speakers about the industry and what their companies do to help with inclusion and diversity in the workplace.

Elwood Corporation presented to the students on applications and careers in our industry, and together with Husco, they helped the students assemble fluid power kits.

MSOE was recently designated as a NFPA Power Partner University and we are always looking for ways to connect members with universities to increase the number of students educated in fluid power. These opportunities make an impact as students consider their future career paths. To get engaged with students and faculty at MSOE or one of NFPA’s other Power Partner universities, contact Stephanie at sscaccianoce@nfpa.com.
