Programs like the Fast Track to Fluid Power (formerly FAMTEN) are made possible in part by the generous support of industry volunteers as well as NFPA Education and Technology Foundation and Pascal Society donors. Support these efforts by making a donation.
NFPA’s workforce development programs are designed to introduce students to fluid power and connect them to fluid power careers at member companies. Husco is the most recent company to take advantage of this growing talent pool after hiring two full-time employees from Waukesha County Technical College’s (WCTC) Automation Systems Technology program and one intern from the school’s Dual Enrollment program.
Nathan Lodl started as an intern and was quickly brought on full-time while he finished his last semester at WCTC. He is currently working 1st shift as an Automation Technician in Husco’s Automotive division. Edward McKibbon also started as an intern and was taken on full-time shortly after starting with Husco. He is also working as an Automation Technician in their Automotive division, but on a split shift. Spencer Lee was hired as a part-time intern and is working in the same role as Nathan and Edward, but as an intern.
WCTC is an NFPA Fast Track/FAMTEN Hub School, which means that it is part of a workforce development pathway that partners local technical colleges with industry partners and middle/high school teachers. This network creates awareness and interest in fluid power at all education levels and trains students along a path that leads to careers in fluid power at NFPA member companies. NFPA’s other Fast Track/FAMTEN School is Triton College in River Grove, Illinois.
