CCEFP Summit Provides Networking Opportunities to Promote Fluid Power Education

The CCEFP Summit is a biannual meeting for the fluid power industry and academic researcher collaborators in the Center for Compact and Efficient Fluid Power. The Summit connects industry to university resources and talent through technical presentations, networking opportunities and facility tours of the host university. I attended this year to better connect with the university professors who are a part of the group and to help promote both NFPA and CCEFP activities.

The Summit took place October 22-24 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. While many of the research presentations were over my head, it was easy to see the amount of passion and dedication that goes into the fluid power research that the students and academic collaborators are doing and how NFPA members and the fluid power industry connect through it.

The Summit provided me the opportunity to talk with many university professors and get their views on possible ways to get more fluid power education into university engineering classes. Through this, I am collaborating with one professor to submit an abstract to speak at one of the American Society for Engineering Education’s Section conferences. The topic will be closing the fluid power skills gap though industry participation in the classroom.
