June 4 Regional Conference Features Expert Lineup

The next NFPA/FPIC Regional Conference is set to take place online on June 4. Although the format of the conference will differ from the typical setup, we are confident that the experience will be equally as enriching. One aspect that won’t change is the quality of our presenters. Learn about performance-improving finishing processes, production machining and its critical relationship with the fluid power industry, how to unlock peak productivity and more from these speakers:

Phil Hanna is a Product Manager for Machines/Gages at Sunnen Products Company. His presentation will focus on improving the bores of hydraulic components, like valves and cylinders. More specifically, Hanna plans to share the unique impact honing, lapping and skiving/roller burnishing finishes have on hydraulic bores. Attendees should expect to learn details about the applications and benefits of these finishing techniques as well as gain a better understanding of how the finishing process has the potential to improve the performance of hydraulic components.

John Belmonte is the Owner and President of Mitotec Precision LLC, a modern production machining supplier. Belmonte intends to use his years of industry experience to share his perspective on technology integration in real-life production machining. Topics covered will include modern inspection systems, real-time data collection and machine monitoring in addition to other processes Mitotec uses to produce components for hydraulic systems. Belmonte also hopes to shed light on the often-overlooked human aspect of business and the effects that company culture can have on the success of today’s contract machining operations.

Dan Skulan is the General Manager of Industrial Metrology at Renishaw, Inc. and has over 35 years of practical experience with manufacturing process evaluation, design and control. He plans to provide guidance on machining operations and how companies can increase throughput, quality and productivity in manufacturing while also controlling expenses. Skulan believes that manufacturers today need to produce higher quality and more innovative products but with less available skilled labor and at a lower cost. The presentation will offer direction on achieving these goals by covering topics such as productivity, factories of the future and the elements of creating a stable, controllable process.
