National Robotics League Seeks Pneumatics Help

The National Robotics League (NRL) is looking for technical assistance to revise the Pneumatics Systems section of their Technical Regulations and Safety Checklist. NRL is hoping to revise these regulations this summer so they are ready for the next school year. NRL prohibits the use of projectiles, so the robots, called “bots”, face off in a gladiator-style competition. Students learn practical design and manufacturing skills and their industry sponsors build important relationships with schools and students.

The National Robotics League is sponsored by the National Tooling & Machining Association (NTMA). Not only does this program expose students to the possibilities of a manufacturing career, the use of pneumatics in a high school competition encourages an early interest in fluid power. Students who participate in the NRL competition and use pneumatics on their robot are eligible for the NFPA Robotics Challenge Scholarship.

If you have pneumatics expertise and are willing to help the National Robotics League, please contact Mary Pluta at mpluta@nfpa.com.
