The University Power Partner Program is made possible in part by the generous support of industry volunteers as well as NFPA Education and Technology Foundation and Pascal Society donors. Support these efforts by making a donation.
More than 100 engineering students in three fluid power classes at Purdue University heard from engineers from NFPA member, HYDAC, late last year. Mostly juniors and seniors who are about to embark on their careers, the students learned about HYDAC and the work they do. They also heard from a recent Purdue University graduate, who now works at HYDAC, about the typical tasks and projects an engineer develops.
Purdue’s strong connection to the fluid power industry is reflected in its status as a Power Partner University. To be a Power Partner University, a school must meet the following criteria:
- Host a Meet the Students/Industry Connection Event
- Participate in the Speaker’s Bureau program
- Participate in the Fluid Power Vehicle Challenge
- Have a Fluid Power Club
- Teach the nine core fluid power competencies
NFPA works with our university partners to coordinate and support Power Partner activities. Their robust fluid power programming means their students are excellent candidates for openings in many member companies. If you are interested in participating in future events, please reach out to Mary Pluta at mpluta@nfpa.com.
