NFPA provides opportunities and resources for members to promote the unique strengths and inherent advantages offered by modern fluid power technology in general as well as ways to get their specific products and technologies in front of customers.
Reach Your Customers at the Right Trade Shows
IFPE 2023 is slated for March 14 -18, 2023 in Las Vegas, Nevada and will again serve as a platform for highlighting fluid power in front of potential customers. Space sales are officially open, and companies planning to exhibit can now fill out the online space application and submit their deposit. Applications with deposits received by August 13 will be classified as priority exhibitors and will be among the first companies to be placed on the show floor in late November 2021. Applications received after August 13 or not accompanied by a deposit will be assigned a booth space after all priority exhibitors have been placed. NFPA members receive a significant discount on booth space.
To learn more or fill out your space application, visit IFPE.com.
NFPA is also exploring at other technology-forward trade shows that NFPA members are or could get more involved in. One existing partnership we have is with MPT EXPO, the new motion and power technology trade show that is trying to build an audience among the customers that fluid power, electrical, and gear manufacturers share. Another existing trade show partnership is with THE UTILITY EXPO, the new name for ICUEE, a show focused on public utility technology, construction, and contracting.
Both of these events will be held in September 2021. Learn more at motionpowerexpo.com and theutilityexpo.com, respectively.
Keep Up With Industry Trends
Every other year, NFPA publishes an update to its Technology Roadmap for the fluid power industry. The document describes the primary drivers impacting the technology decisions of our customers, how fluid power technology currently lines up with those drivers, and the specific improvements that we should work towards to expand our ability to satisfy these customer needs. Past Roadmaps have focused on improving fluid power control systems, electrification, and the use of data from working fluid power products. More than 80 representatives across the fluid power supply chain are participating in the next update of the Roadmap, which is scheduled for publication in August 2021.
Fluid Power Forum, NFPA’s industry-focused podcast, is now in its third year of production. Our episodes have been downloaded over 10,000 times and continue to educate and entertain members of the fluid power workforce and beyond. The series, which releases a new episode every other week, focuses on interesting and innovative applications of hydraulics and pneumatics. Previously published episodes include topics like pneumatically-powered soft robots used by the U.S. Military, collaborative hydraulic robots used to improve agricultural tasks and a variety of workforce-focused episodes detailing the opportunities for students pursuing careers in fluid power. The show has become popular not only in the U.S., but with audiences abroad in places like India, Australia and the U.K.

NFPA continues to seek out the topics that appeal most to our listeners and we can’t do it alone. If your company is interested in participating in an episode featuring an interesting application of fluid power, reach out to NFPA Communications Manager Maddie Parise at mparise@nfpa.com.
NFPA’s upcoming 2020 Annual Report on the U.S. Fluid Power Industry is set to be released in the summer of 2021. It goes without saying that 2020 was one of the most unpredictable periods in the recent history of the U.S., which means that the data gathered over the previous year is incredibly valuable. The 2020 report will contain updated industry stats regarding size and growth trends, downstream impact and workforce developments. Additionally, the new report will dive deep into the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on our industry and the swift actions fluid power manufacturers, suppliers and distributors took to adapt to volatile circumstances and push forward during a period of uncertainty. Watch for communications from NFPA regarding the 2020 report’s release and remember to share the report with anyone in your network (member or not) who may be interested in learning more about the impact and reach of the U.S. fluid power industry.
