Japanese Fluid Power Association Hosts Fluid Power ISO Standards Meetings

A series of fluid power systems ISO standards development meetings were recently held in Tokyo, Japan. The subcommittee for Connectors and similar products and components (SC 4), Control Products (SC 5), and a total of 11 working groups met to further the developmental progress on current projects, systematic reviews of published standards, and to discuss possible new areas of work within the fluid power industry.

Over 35 committee members representing the fluid power industry attended the week-long meetings. Four U.S. experts who participate on various U.S. Technical Advisory Groups (TAGs) attended on behalf of the U.S. fluid power industry. The remaining delegates traveled from China, Japan, Italy, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom.

U.S. Led Meeting Highlights

ISO 3304 is referred to in all parts of the ISO 8434 Series and so all parts of this series will need to be revised. 8434-1 & 8434-2 are already in the early stages of development.

ISO 6358-1 & ISO 6358-2 have amendments under development, which the timeframe was extended to complete.

Many standards across SC 4 an SC 5 had Systematic Reviews since the last meeting and discussions were had to add revisions to the future work program of the groups.
