NFPA’s Fast Track to Fluid Power is a workforce development pathway that partners local technical colleges with fluid power industry members and high school teachers. These networks create awareness and interest in fluid power and train students along a path that leads to careers in fluid power at NFPA member companies.
We are pleased to announce the addition of the fourth Fast Track to Fluid Power HUB, Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C) in Cleveland, Ohio. Ray Nejadfard, Dean of Advanced Manufacturing & Engineering, is leading the effort for Tri-C. The Ohio Hub enables more members to help build a fluid power educated workforce and industry awareness through hands-on events and activities that benefit Tri-C students studying fluid power and the middle and high schools that feed the college.
Joining our existing Fast Track Hubs in Illinois, Michigan, and Wisconsin, Cuyahoga Community College offers an Integrated System Engineering Technology (ISET) program for fluid power, which will be enhanced by input from local fluid power industry members so that graduating students will have strong, job-ready, skills in fluid power.
To get local NFPA members involved with our latest Fast Track Hub, we are launching a Workforce Engagement Group (WEG) to specifically serve members with recruiting needs in Ohio. The Ohio WEG is designed to bring industry members, Tri-C faculty, and NFPA’s Workforce Team together to identify and discuss opportunities that connect members with Tri-C students, and the middle and high schools the feed into the college.
- Join us on August 2nd (1pm-3:30pm Eastern) at Tri-C for the inaugural Ohio Workforce Engagement meeting and tour of Tri-C’s fluid power facility. Attending NFPA members will meet Ray Nejadfard, learn about Tri-C’s fluid power related courses, and have an opportunity to offer feedback about the curriculum. Please register via the link below. Details about the location and parking will be shared prior to the meeting.
- Can’t make the meeting? Sign up to join the Ohio WEG to be kept informed of developments with Tri-C as we work towards developing curriculum and relationships at its feeder schools and connect NFPA members with emerging talent. Please contact James Foster (jfoster@nfpa.com) with questions or to get involved.
- Speakers Bureau: Interested in sharing insights about the fluid power industry, career options, and your company with middle, high school, or Tri-C fluid power students? NFPA can help connect you with educators seeking speakers in the 2024-25 academic year. NFPA also created a presentation template found here.
