IoT and NFPA Membership – A Progress Update

At its June 2018 strategic planning meeting, the NFPA Board of Directors identified the Industrial Internet of Things as a key trend affecting the industry about which NFPA should seek to provide information to members.

We’ve moved forward on several fronts;

  • With Board approval, we altered the definition of the NFPA supplier membership to specifically include a broader range of suppliers, including IoT providers;
  • We’ve begun recruiting IoT providers to membership in NFPA. The NFPA Board of Directors set a goal of five IoT provider members for the 2018-19 fiscal year. We currently have three: Elevat IoT, IoT Diagnostics, and ShelfAware.
  • We launched a new and growing IoT Committee to help guide our efforts to bring more knowledge of IoT options and strategies to our members, including conference programming, online resources, development of a roadmap for IoT strategy, and recruitment of additional IoT providers as members.

Members interested in participating, or who can help connect us to additional IoT providers, can contact Pete Alles at palles@nfpa.com or (414) 778-3350.
