Programs like the Fluid Power Action Challenge are made possible in part by the generous support of industry volunteers as well as NFPA Education and Technology Foundation and Pascal Society donors. Support these efforts by making a donation.
This year, Daman Products facilitated its 10th Fluid Power Action Challenge, reaching a new Challenge Champions milestone. Eighty-eight students participated in the event held at the University of Notre Dame’s Stephen Center. Daman invited teams from nine local schools to participate in this exciting design and build competition. One way that they have enhanced the hands-on learning experience for students is by hosting two Workshop Days so that engineers can be more engaged in the initial building sessions and introduction to fluid power.
After attending these Workshop Days in October, teams spent months prototyping machines that can lift and rotate objects and returned in January to compete. Judges kept score as teams used their machines, seeing how many objects they can move in the allowed time. Team 36 from Jackson Intermediate emerged as the Overall Champion.
The Fluid Power Action Challenge works to inspire students to consider fluid power education and careers. Congratulations and many thanks to Daman and the NFPA members that helped sponsor this event, Alro Steel and Womack Machine Supply, for providing the platform for students to interact with fluid power professionals and explore the potential pathways to the industry.
