Fluid Power Vehicle Challenge Teams Gearing up for Final Competition

Programs like the Fluid Power Vehicle Challenge are made possible in part by the generous support of industry volunteers as well as NFPA Education and Technology Foundation and Pascal Society donors. Support these efforts by making a donation.

The 15 university teams competing in the Fluid Power Vehicle Challenge recently completed their Design and Specification Midway Reviews and have begun to receive their sponsored components from SunSource and Eaton. Over the next few months, teams will begin building and testing their bikes in preparation for a sprint race, efficiency challenge, and endurance challenge at the final competition that will again take place at IMI Precision Engineering in suburban Denver this April.

At Bimba Manufacturing, we’re excited to host the NFPA Fluid Power Vehicle Challenge. As innovators in motion solutions ourselves, we can hardly wait to see what creative solutions student teams come up with. Bimba joins other IMI Precision Engineering branded companies in fostering the next generation of engineers, designers, and technicians, and it’s hard to imagine a more fun way to do that than seeing the competitors’ bicycle designs tested on our course. We look forward to welcoming teams from all over the country to our IMI Norgren site in beautiful Littleton, Colorado.

-Kent Sowatzke, VP Engineering, Bimba Manufacturing

The final competition will be an exciting event where students present and demonstrate their designs. Industry professionals will judge their work, and winners will emerge. Students, university faculty, and industry professionals will experience the final leg of this dynamic undergraduate engineering design challenge on April 15-18, 2020. This year will feature unique pneumatic applications inspired by Bimba’s Best Use of Pneumatics Award.

Registration is now open to attend the final competition event.* To attend or to learn more about the NFPA Fluid Power Vehicle Challenge, contact Stephanie at sscaccianoce@nfpa.com.

*This opportunity reserved for Gold or Silver donors of the Pascal Society. Find out if your company is already a donor here.
