The NFPA Internet of Things Committee held a conference call December 12 to discuss the results of the recent survey of members concerning IoT capabilities and what the results mean for plans going forward.
The conclusions they made, based in part on the survey, are that:
- There’s an opportunity for the Committee to create a roadmap for members struggling to develop IoT strategies for their companies, and
- NFPA could help members find their way forward with IoT by commissioning research or the gathering of business intelligence on the state of IoT in key markets for fluid power as well as competing or adjacent technologies.
Committee members are contributing ideas toward the IoT strategy roadmap through mid-January, which they will then begin reviewing and aggregating into a roadmap to help fluid power companies in their planning processes. They are also identifying possible vendors to help with business intelligence in the IoT space and will narrow in on some areas of focus.
Current members of the NFPA IoT Committee include:
- Ada Leung, Anfield Industries
- Christian Eitel, Bucher Hydraulics
- Scott Rosenzweig, Certified Power
- Brad Dittmer, IMI Precision Engineering
- Patrick Maher, IMI Precision Engineering
- Jeremy Drury, IoT Diagnostics
- Matt Schatteman, Kaman Fluid Power
- Andrew Johnson, ShelfAware
The Committee meets via conference call, and will also meet the afternoon of March 5th at the NFPA Annual Conference in Laguna Beach, California. Members interested in participating can contact Pete Alles at palles@nfpa.com or (414) 778-3350
