Daman Products Inc. celebrated its eighth annual Fluid Power Action Challenge by engaging 92 students on 23 teams. The last few years, Daman has been working with Bethel Community College to host the 11 participating schools.
In the many years of organizing and sponsoring these events, the students that participated in the earlier years have since moved on, graduated high school, and potentially decided on post-secondary education. When I visited the event, a parent introduced herself to me and mentioned that her son was one of those students. She said that his involvement in the program was the determining factor in why he chose to enroll at Ohio State University to become an engineer. Prior to the Action Challenge, he wanted to be a veterinarian, she told me. The student returned to watch his younger brother compete in Daman’s Action Challenge event six years later.
The Fluid Power Action Challenge works to inspire students to consider fluid power education and careers. Many thanks to the NFPA members that sponsor this program and provide the platform for students to interact with fluid power professionals and explore the potential pathways to the industry.
