Increasing Number of Students Seeking Fluid Power Internships, Hire Them Now

The academic year is underway, and we have been reconnecting with our education partners in our Power Partner and Fast Track programs about the best opportunities to recruit students pursing fluid power education tracks and careers in the industry. With our Power Partners, we are hosting a series of industry connection events and inviting underclassmen, student organizations, and emerging students from a number of fluid power related degree programs including Mechanical, Electrical, Agricultural, engineering and more. These efforts have resulted in an increasing number of students seeking fluid power internships.

NFPA collects the resumes of students that participate in our programs and distributes them to the Human Resource contacts we have on file. If you have not already, this is a good opportunity to ensure that your HR contacts are up-to-date in NFPA’s records and create a company profile on NFPA’s Foundation website. The latest batch of resumes will be sent out around the end of September.

NFPA’s latest Power Partner University is North Carolina A&T. As NCAT begins to develop their fluid power concentration, the university also aims to secure ten internships and two co-ops in the fluid power industry for their students this academic year. These should be a minimum of 10 weeks, but no more than 12 weeks. They should involve meaningful work experiences that allow the students to gain guidance, support, and career advice to help foster personal and professional development.

In our established Fast Track hub regions in Illinois, Michigan, and Wisconsin, we are inviting career services faculty and other stakeholders to join our Workforce Engagement Group meetings so that NFPA members can learn how to start or maintain apprenticeship and internship programs. Policies and best practices can vary by state so this is your chance to have a discussion with the experts, and it is exclusive for NFPA members.

For more information or to get involved, contact Stephanie Scaccianoce at sscaccianoce@nfpa.com or join us at one of our upcoming student recruiting events or Workforce Engagement Groups.
