Fluid Power Vehicle Challenge Registration Now Open

Programs like the Fluid Power Vehicle Challenge are made possible in part by the generous support of industry volunteers as well as NFPA Education and Technology Foundation and Pascal Society donors. Support these efforts by making a donation.

Registration is now open for the 2024 NFPA Fluid Power Vehicle Challenge. This year, two exciting final competitions are scheduled and students from 24 universities will be invited to participate. The first will be held in Littleton, Colorado, hosted by Norgren, a part of IMI Precision Engineering, from April 10th to 12th, 2024. The second competition is set to take place in Ames, Iowa, hosted by Danfoss Power Solutions, from April 24th to 26th, 2024. Students who take part in the Vehicle Challenge gain practical knowledge and hands-on experience with fluid power components, circuits, and systems. They learn how these elements are utilized to manage force and motion effectively.

The active involvement of industry participation in the Fluid Power Vehicle Challenge greatly contributes to the program’s success. A student last year commented, “I had no idea about the fluid power industry, so it was really great getting to know people in the field.”

Pascal Society Donors are invited to participate in a number of ways:

  • Mentor participating teams and guide students through design and build process.
  • Judging the virtual Midway Reviews during December and January.
  • Judging the Final Presentations, Vehicle Design Reviews, and race results at the competitions.

One of the best ways to recruit the students who participate in this program is to attend the virtual networking mixer on Friday, November 3rd at 1 PM CDT. We strongly encourage HR staff to attend along with mentors, sponsors and judges from their companies. The Networking Mixer lets you engage with students in Zoom breakout rooms. Additionally, Pascal Society Donors will have exclusive access to students’ resumes before the event.

Participating in the Vehicle Challenge Program is an opportunity reserved for donors to the Pascal Society. Find out if your company is already a donor here. Interested NFPA members who are not donors are welcome to participate once to see how the program works and the advantages associated with being involved.

To get involved, please reach out to Mary Pluta at mpluta@nfpa.com for registration details.
