A series of fluid power systems ISO standards development meetings were recently held in Frankfurt, Germany. The subcommittee for Connectors and similar products and components, and a total of 9 working groups met to further the developmental progress on current projects, systematic reviews of published standards, and to discuss possible new areas of work within the fluid power industry.
Thirty committee members representing the fluid power industry attended the week-long meetings. Three U.S. experts who participate on various U.S. Technical Advisory Groups (TAGs) attended on behalf of the U.S. fluid power industry. The remaining delegates traveled from China, Japan, Sweden, Italy, France, Germany, Türkiye, and the United Kingdom.
U.S. Led Meeting Highlights
In addition to reports given by working groups a revision of ISO 18869 has been started with Mr. Gianmarco Gatti of Italy appointed as Project Leader.
Many projects across TC 131 were under Systematic Review at the time of the Frankfurt meetings with those results to be posted in the coming weeks.
ISO 3304 is referred to in all parts of the ISO 8434 Series and so all parts of this series will need to be revised. Work has begun on this revision process.
ISO 6162-1 that utilizes parts of SAE J518 is up for Systematic Review in June of 2023.
Discussion was had leading to updates in terminology for ISO 5598.
