Calling on Alumni, Speak to Students at Your Alma Mater

Are you an alum of one of the following institutions? NFPA has several workforce development programs designed to connect NFPA members with students for youth outreach, career exploration, and direct recruiting opportunities.

One request we often get from teachers is that having alumni speak to students about their educational experience and their career path provides students with important insights, allows them to connect their coursework to the real-world, and helps them to better imagine themselves in fluid power careers.

Plus, companies that choose to have representatives participate receive increased visibility and the exclusive opportunity to talk to students about open positions and recruit emerging talent.

Through NFPA’s Speaker’s Bureau program, we help make connections between students and industry for this purpose with an increasing emphasis at our Fast Track to Fluid Power and Power Partner schools.

The Fast Track to Fluid Power program supports technical or community college institutions that teach the competencies that 2-year degreed students need to enter the fluid power workforce. It also engages a ring of high schools that feed into that college, creating a bridge from the network of local schools into fluid power careers. Those regional hubs are located at:

Macomb Community College, Greater Detroit, MI.

Triton College, Greater Chicago, IL.

Waukesha County Technical College, Greater Milwaukee, WI.

The Power Partner Program engages universities that teach the competencies that 4-year degreed students need to enter the fluid power workforce. A series of programs works to involve freshman up through seniors providing multiple touch points for fluid power career exploration and industry connection. These are:

Iowa State University, Ames, IA.

Milwaukee School of Engineering, Milwaukee WI.

Murray State University, Murray, KY.

Northern Illinois University, Dekalb, IL.

Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN.

NFPA has many more educator partners in its network through the programs that we facilitate, and we would be happy to get your company involved. Contact Stephanie at sscaccianoce@nfpa.com for next steps.
