Here’s What A $500 Action Challenge Grant Generates

The NFPA Education and Technology Foundation awards Action Challenge Grants worth up to $500 per year to middle and high schools who incorporate fluid power education into the classroom.  For years, one educator has been leveraging the grant to teach students through the hands-on learning of the Fluid Power Action Challenge.  Fruits of their labor are pictured below. It’s amazing to see the value and creativity that an annual $500 grant can generate at one school.

NFPA members can experience the creativity and value first-hand by volunteering at or hosting a Fluid Power Action Challenge. The Fluid Power Action Challenge is a STEM-based competition that challenges middle or high school students to solve an engineering problem using fluid power. The students work in teams to design and build a fluid power mechanism and then compete against other teams in a timed competition.  To assist, NFPA has prepared the materials needed to conduct the competition, manage / work the event, and help students create something amazing.  You can find those materials here.

Members, please share the grant information with an educator / school who might benefit.  If you would like to host or volunteer at Fluid Power Action Challenge, please contact James Foster at jfoster@nfpa.com.
