Meet a Fluid Power Scholarship Winner – Tatiyana Timmons

Programs like the Fluid Power Scholarships are made possible in part by the generous support of industry volunteers as well as NFPA Education and Technology Foundation and Pascal Society donors. Support these efforts by making a donation.

The NFPA Education and Technology Foundation has awarded nineteen $2,000 scholarships to students pursuing fluid power technology fields of study.

Here’s one of the winners, Tatiyana Timmons. Tatiyana is attending Murray State University. We asked Tatiyana about winning the scholarship…

What does winning a Fluid Power Scholarship mean to you?
Winning this Fluid Power Scholarship means the world to me. I am so thrilled to have found the fluid power industry and winning this award provides me the opportunity to continue my pursuits towards the career of my dreams. With this scholarship, I am extremely grateful to be given the opportunity to further my education.

Why did you choose to learn about fluid power?
I began to show an interest in fluid power during my first semester attending Murray State. I have always been enthralled by technology for as long as I can remember, and fluid power seemed like the right path for me to take into the technological world. The field completely fascinates me and I am determined to learn more as well as undertake a career in this field.

What are your career aspirations? What type of fluid power job do you hope to get after you graduate?
My career aspirations have always placed me right in the center of technology. While I’m still not entirely sure which job I’m most interested in yet, I know that I will stay within the fluid power field because that’s where my passions lie. I’m most interested in becoming a mechanical engineer after graduation, but for the time being I’m keeping my options open to the various careers that fluid power offers.

The Foundation’s goal is to help individuals enrolled in technical colleges and universities pursue their interests in fluid power. The Fluid Power Scholarship application is available from January 2023 until early April 2023. Please share this opportunity within your network. Additionally, if you would like to serve on the application review committee, please contact Eric Pannell at epannell@nfpa.com.
