Helping Grow the Fluid Power Workforce This Giving Season

This past year was another year of success in growing our workforce development programs that spread the word about and get students interested in the fluid power industry. From launching new initiatives to starting to aggressively scale existing ones, we are working hard to help grow and educate the fluid power workforce of the future.

Growing the fluid power workforce as one of NFPA’s primary strategic priorities. Because of member support, our programs are helping to change the talent pool available to our industry.

These efforts are all made possible and enhanced by the participation on industry members who volunteer their time, expertise, and financial resources to connect with and engage students and faculty. Two of the programs that are easiest for NFPA members to get directly involved with are the Fluid Power Action Challenge and Fluid Power Vehicle Challenge.

The NFPA Fluid Power Action Challenge introduces fluid power and engineering concepts to middle school students in a fun and exciting hands-on, team-based learning environment. Industry members can start their own community event or volunteer for an existing one.
The NFPA Fluid Power Vehicle Challenge strives to promote original thinking in a competitive setting by combining two technology platforms that are not normally associated with one another—human-powered vehicles and fluid power (hydraulics and pneumatics). Industry members get involved as mentors, judges, sponsors and other volunteers for this event.

You can support these efforts by making a donation to the NFPA Education and Technology Foundation.

Or you can also volunteer at one of the upcoming Action or Vehicle Challenge events. For more information contact Lynn Beyer at lbeyer@nfpa.com.

Thank for you for support and engagement – and Happy Holidays!
