Now Accepting Proposals for University Grants

Programs like the University Fluid Power Grant Program is made possible in part by the generous support of industry volunteers as well as NFPA Education and Technology Foundation and Pascal Society donors. Support these efforts by making a donation.

The NFPA Education and Technology Foundation is committed to supporting university fluid power education and programs that train the next generation of the fluid power workforce. To help get more university graduates educated in fluid power, the University Fluid Power Grant is designed to provide funding to faculty to add more fluid power curricula to their undergraduate engineering programs.

For the 2021-2022 year, the NFPA Foundation is looking to specifically fund university projects that create electrical, data acquisition and controls curricula that will ultimately be available be shared on the NFPA Curricula Tree.

NFPA will provide up to $8,000 per grant. NFPA will accept grant proposals until the funds are depleted. Approved projects will be awarded between July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022.

Requirements:

Funding must be connected to adding electrical, data acquisition and controls curricula into the university. NFPA’s Curricula Tree contains resources for educators based off what the fluid power industry has identified as the core competencies that they would like to see in newly graduated mechanical engineering students.

The selection of funding recipients will be based on the following criteria:

  • Merits of the project – its goals and objectives
  • Relevance and importance to adding fluid power curricula at your university
  • Student involvement
  • Multiplier effect

Examples of supported activities funded by this grant include:

  • Resources needed to bring fluid power curricula to engineering programs
  • Development of teaching tools (e.g., textbooks, software programs, training stations)
  • Lab development, maintenance, upgrades

Please share this funding opportunity with your university contacts.
