NFPA Staff Visits Twin Disc

Racine, Wisconsin may not be the first city in the Great Lakes region you think of for fluid power manufacturing, but it should be.  Even though the city has been hit hard over the years by company acquisitions and consolidations, Racine can still boast of a strong fluid power manufacturing sector. Eric Armstrong, NFPA’s Economic and Statistical Services Manager, and I recently visited Twin Disc, a company that exemplifies the manufacturing tradition in Racine.  Twin Disc was founded in 1918 and has evolved into a diverse, multi-national company serving both marine and land-based end-use customers.  Although Twin Disc does serve both the agricultural and oil & gas sectors, it is because of their varied end-use markets that they are optimistic about the future.  Twin Disc joined NFPA in 2012 to gain more visibility within the fluid power industry.  The company manufactures pump drives, gear boxes, speed reducers, clutches/PTO’s and electronic controls, and will be exhibiting in the South Hall at CON-EXPO/CON-AGG 2017.
