Industry/University Engagement Summit Highlights Research Potential

Summit toursMore than 50 members of industry and academia attended the Industry/University Engagement Summit June 6 – 8 at Iowa State University. The main feature of the event was fluid power research presentations, including ones on newly funded research projects, many of which are in their beginning stages. Topics ranged from innovative designs for fluid power components to noise transmission in pumps to magnetic filtration for hydraulic fluids. Attendees from both industry and academia offered their feedback and suggestions to help shape the research projects in sometimes lively discussions after each presentation and during networking time.

In addition to new research presentations and discussion, the Summit also featured presentations on more established projects with commercialization potential, like the variable displacement linkage pump and industrial pneumatics strain energy accumulator projects, both born out of research projects at the CCEFP. Attendees also enjoyed tours of Iowa State laboratories, reviews of the preliminary Project AME 3D Excavator design, and updates from the CCEFP regarding developments in obtaining government grants and choosing research directions.

The slides for the presentations and updates are available for download. Watch for future updates as the research projects progress and tune in to the CCEFP Webinar Series to learn more about fluid power research initiatives.
