Research Supplements and Student Travel Grants Now Available for CCEFP Summits

Application deadline = August 1, 2018

The National Fluid Power Association (NFPA), in collaboration with the Center for Compact and Efficient Fluid Power (CCEFP), has created two new programs to help principal investigators and their graduate students attend and present their research at the CCEFP Summits scheduled for the 2018-19 academic year:

  1. Research Supplements are meant for principal investigators with at least $50,000 in funding for an existing fluid power-themed research award. Each Supplement will provide $9,000 in additional funding, which the investigator will use to cover travel expenses associated with their attendance and presentation at the two CCEFP summits scheduled for October 2018 and April 2019. Any remaining funds in the Supplement will be retained by the investigator in general support of their existing research award.
  2. Student Travel Grants are meant for the graduate students of the investigators being awarded the Supplements. Each will provide $500 in additional funding, which the students will use to cover additional travel expenses associated with their attendance and presentation at one or both of the scheduled CCEFP summits.

Application deadlines for both programs have been set for August 1, 2018. Go here to complete the online application forms.

“CCEFP Summits are great places for the fluid power industry to connect and engage with the investigators and students performing cutting-edge fluid power research,” said Eric Lanke, NFPA President/CEO. “That’s an objective NFPA supports, and we’re happy to work in partnership with CCEFP to bring more of those investigators and students to their events.”

The CCEFP will play a key role in reviewing the applications and determining which are best aligned with their overall research strategy and the content objectives of each CCEFP summit. “Our goal is to showcase the best fluid power research being conducted,” said Professor Zongxuan Sun, CCEFP Director. “In a landscape where great fluid power research is being funded by the CCEFP, by the U.S. Department of Energy, and by a growing list of funding agencies and research organizations, this partnership with the NFPA will help us ensure that the CCEFP Summits offer the best content possible.”

All NFPA members are welcome to attend one of the CCEFP Summits being held this year. Typically reserved only for companies that are members of the CCEFP, this partnership offers a great opportunity for NFPA members to come and “kick the tires,” before determining if direct membership in the CCEFP makes sense for their organizations. Specific dates and locations for the CCEFP Summits will be announced soon.
