Prospective Industry Supporters Visit CCEFP Headquarters

[dropcap]O[/dropcap]n April 27, representatives from Sumitomo Heavy Industries (SHI), Dr. Tomoyuki Akashi, Principal Engineer and Eisuke Matsuzaki from SHI’s Technology Research Center, visited the University of Minnesota to meet with the Center for Compact and Efficient Fluid Power (CCEFP) staff and researchers. The purpose of SHI’s visit was to learn more about the Center and to gain a better understanding of how they could work with Center research faculty to achieve their company’s goals. In addition to touring some UMN fluid power labs, they also visited the new Thomas E. Murphy Engine Research Laboratory, improved engine research infrastructure within Mechanical Engineering. SHI also learned about CCEFP’s collaboration with the National Fluid Power Association (NFPA) and they were invited to participate in the Center’s activities by supporting the Pascal Society.
