O-Ring Sales and Service Hosts Student Career Connections Program

In February, NFPA member O-ring Sales and Service Inc. partnered with Inventive Engineering Solutions and hosted an NFPA Student Career Connections Program. Together, they organized a company tour for high school students at their testing facility. The company representatives were able to engage with the students and talk about careers in fluid power. The students enjoyed the ability to explore some of these creative opportunities available in the fluid power industry. After the successful outing, the hosts provided the students with take-home fluid power kits and completed the experience with a hands-on activity.

The Student Career Connections Program is extremely flexible. While the company tour is a great way to immerse students in the world fluid power careers, there are other options to choose from depending on time allotted:

  • Employee Q&A: Engineers explain to students what “a day in the life” is like, how they got into the industry, etc.
  • Team Project: Engineers work with students to help assemble a basic, premade fluid power classroom kit.
  • Group lunch

Schools, teachers, parents and NFPA members can learn more about Student Career Connections here or by contacting Lynn Beyer at lbeyer@nfpa.com.
