NFPA’s Stats Toolkit: Identify Market Share and Industry Segmentation with the Market Share Report

Stats Fact of the Week: Week of December 31, 2018

NFPA’s Stats Toolkit is a cloud-based statistical tool that expands our members’ economic view of their companies and our industry by combining NFPA data sources with popular analytical tools.  An intuitive interface and easy setup process allows users to benchmark company performance, automate time-consuming calculations, conduct industry analysis, identify leading indicators, and create custom forecasts with simple point-and-click menu options that generate graphs and hard data that can be easily transferred to other reports, presentations, and files.

Toolkit applications include:

  • Market Trends Report
  • Market Share Report
  • Correlation Analysis
  • Custom US Forecasting
  • Custom Global Forecasting

This week’s featured application, the Market Share Report, identifies market share and industry segmentation over time. This application is as straightforward as it gets:

  1. Select a “Base Series” (denominator/divisor)
  2. Select a second series (numerator/dividend) for which your identifying the share/segmentation
  3. Select the “Preview/Next” button

Comparing your company shipments, as a whole or by product, with the applicable industry data contained in the Stats Toolkit will allow you to develop a market share trend graph to track your market share over time.

Comparing a smaller segment of the industry with a larger relatable segment of the industry will allow you to develop an industry segmentation trend graph to track the industry’s segmentation over time.
