NFPA’s Customer Market File Now Available to Entire Membership

Previously only available to participants of NFPA’s Confidential Shipment Statistics (CSS) program, the Customer Market File (CMF) is now available to all NFPA members! Using information from a variety of public data sources that is then sorted, analyzed, and displayed in such a way to make the data much more accessible and convenient for our members, the CMF provides insights into key U.S. customer markets, popular economic indicators, and producer pricing.

The one-of-a-kind Excel file contains:

  • Customer Market Data are taken from the Census Bureau’s M3 report (Manufacturers’ Shipments, Inventories, & Orders) and include overall U.S. shipment and order dollars for many key fluid power customer markets. Important for translating the effect of customer market size and trends on our industry and your company.
  • Economic Indicator Data are taken from a variety different sources and include 20 popular leading indicators. Important for anticipating change in our industry and your company.
  • Producer Pricing Data are taken from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and include both overall pricing indices for key customer markets and specific pricing indices for fluid power products. Important for identifying fluctuations in pricing and pricing effects on our industry and your company.

All data contained in this file can be used for your own internal analysis needs or easily transferred into analytical tools such as NFPA’s Stats Toolkit to enhance your capabilities.
