It’s late afternoon, and Eric Lanke and I just completed the first leg of a trip to Denver with a visit to IMI Precision Engineering.
Tomorrow we visit Gates Corporation, and after that we attend a Council of Manufacturing Associations event hosted by the National Association of Manufacturers, where we will share ideas and learn with other association professionals.
But back to IMI Precision Engineering. We were hosted by Brian Crowe, COO, VP and General Manager. Also present was Robert Guerra, President Americas, along with key personnel from marketing, life sciences, engineering and operations.
As always, it’s useful for us to understand how fluid power fits into a broader organization. For IMI Precision Engineering, pneumatics for motion control and industrial automation fits within the overall organization aimed at helping customers manage and control fluids, whether in gaseous or liquid form. And as such, IMI Precision Engineering holds some unique positions within fluid power and customer markets.
Capping it all off, a tour of the plant tells you a lot about the company. At IMI Precision Engineering, the enthusiasm and pride of plant floor workers describing efforts to speed tooling changes and ensure on-time delivery was impressive.
