NFPA Minneapolis Regional Meeting Underscores Area’s Strength

Wednesday, April 22, 2015, was a busy day for fluid power at Hennepin Technical College Brooklyn Park on the north side of Minneapolis. The second annual NFPA Minneapolis Regional Meeting was first on the day’s agenda bringing 35+ fluid power professionals together for networking, business updates and lunch. NFPA members and guests representing companies from across the fluid power supply chain took time to catch up with old friends and make many new acquaintances. This group filled Hennepin’s Gourmet Dining Room and was treated with a special lunch prepared and served by the Hennepin Culinary Program students.

During the business updates, attendees portrayed the industry to be in a period of slow, but steady growth and were uniformly optimistic. Following lunch, Jeannine Uehling, Fluid Power Instructor, offered a tour of the Brooklyn Park Fluid Power Lab to all attendees. And it was in this lab area that the Hennepin College Fluid Power Career Fair was held later that afternoon. This fluid power-specific career fair attracted fluid power manufacturers, distributors, suppliers and customers. Students from both the Brooklyn Park and Eden Prairie campuses of Hennepin attended as well as students from Alexandria Technical College and the Granite Falls campus of Minnesota West Community and Technical College.

The combination of NFPA’s Minneapolis Regional Meeting and the Hennepin Career Fair left no doubt that the Twin Cities area has a vibrant, active fluid power community.
