In Memoriam
Steven W. Demster, former President and CEO at ROSS Controls, Troy, Michigan, and past NFPA Board Chairman, passed peacefully on November 20, 2014. He is survived by his wife, Anita; children, Debbie, Miles, Rebecca, David, and Steven, Jr.; and 10 grandchildren. Steve was with ROSS Controls for just over 20 years. Prior to his time with ROSS, he served as a Flight Dynamics Engineer at The Boeing Company. Steve received both a BSME and a Masters ME, Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University.
While serving on the NFPA Board of Directors, Steve was instrumental in implementing NFPA’s New Directions Initiative which paved the way for the Association’s current goal to serve as a forum where all fluid power channel partners work together. Steve was a lifelong supporter of the Boy Scouts of America and very involved in Scouting activities in the Clarkston, MI area.
