NFPA Member Company Profile: Gerdau

Each week we publish a short company profile of an NFPA member as a way for us to highlight the diversity and strength of our industry. Today’s company is Gerdau.

Gerdau logoGerdau has 19 steel mills in North America.  Their Pleasant Prairie, WI, NitroSteel facility produces wear and corrosion-resistant bars and tubes for use as hydraulic piston rods and pneumatic cylinder barrels.  Using a patented furnace treatment, NitroSteel products give cylinder makers an alternative to hard chrome plating. Gerdau serves a wide range of industries from construction and mining, to manufacturing and transportation.  Gerdau Downstream Operations provides steel fabrication services and specialized steel products from more than 50 facilities across the U.S.  An NFPA member since 1995, Gerdau finds value in NFPA’s Market Information Services, particularly the Confidential Shipment Services Report (CSS).  Representatives from Gerdau also regularly attend both NFPA’s Annual Conference and the Industry and Economic Outlook Conference.
