NFPA Member Companies Celebrate Manufacturing Day 2016

In the beginning of October, the US celebrated Manufacturing Day nationwide. Every year, Manufacturing Day celebrations include manufacturers and distributors opening their doors to host students who have an interest in learning more about careers in the different industries. This year, NFPA member company and educational partner events across the country reached more than 500 students by giving facility tours, showing fluid power in action, and telling students more about potential careers in the fluid power industry. Participating member companies and education partners included Aggressive Hydraulics and JEM Technical Marketing in Minnesota, Airline Hydraulics Corporation in Pennsylvania, Avanti Engineering and Triton College in Illinois, and Daman Products in Indiana.

This type of event confirms the companies’ commitment to give back to the community through workforce development programs aimed at students interested in the industrial field. However, Manufacturing Day celebrations are not the only opportunity for companies to open their doors to students. Student Career Connections is a very similar program from the NFPA that brings fluid power to students through interactions with employees of member companies. Program options range from a school field trip to tour a company’s facilities to bringing a fluid power expert into the classroom to speak to students.
