NFPA Launches New University Education Committee

Fluid power education and workforce development is one of NFPA’s major strategic priorities. To help support a growing number of programs and activities targeted at colleges and universities, we’re now launching a new University Education Committee. Many thanks to Bill Durr of Caterpillar, Inc. and Jonathan Gamble of Enfield Technologies for volunteering as the committee’s first chair and vice chair, respectively.

The purpose of the University Education Committee will be to provide direction and support to programs that guide universities in the development of fundamental fluid power knowledge and connect our industry to an increasing number of scientific and engineering leaders in our field.  The committee will also engage members in creation of value and in program development and delivery.  The committee’s first call to action will be to provide review and oversight of NFPA’s Curriculum Grant Program.

All NFPA members with an interest in these subjects are invited to join the committee and participate on its conference calls, which we expect will be held on a quarterly basis as NFPA’s programs in this key area are developed and deployed. Those interested should contact Alyssa Burger at alyssa@umn.edu.
