NFPA Launches New Technical School Education Committee with Conference Call on March 4

Eric Lanke NFPA CEO

Fluid power education and workforce development is one of NFPA’s major strategic priorities. To help support a growing number of programs and activities targeted at technical schools and community colleges, we’re now launching a new Technical School Education Committee with a conference call on March 4, 2016. Many thanks to Maureen Fitzsimmons of Bimba Manufacturing and Marti Wendel of Curtiss-Wright for volunteering as the committee’s first chair and vice chair, respectively.

The purpose of the new education committee will be to provide needed direction and support to NFPA programs that can increase the number of technically trained people capable of integrating and applying fluid power, and that can connect those people to careers in the fluid power industry. The focus of the call on March 4 will be to provide a brief introduction to NFPA’s work in these areas, and then zoom in on the “connection” issue: What role can/should NFPA play in connecting hiring managers from NFPA companies to job candidates graduating from 2-year technical schools with fluid power-focused training and degrees?

All NFPA members with an interest in these subjects are invited to join the education committee and participate on its conference calls, which we expect will be held on a quarterly basis as NFPA’s programs in this key area and developed and deployed. Those interested should contact Eric Lanke at
