NFPA and the Heavy Metal Tour for Students

Eighth grade students all across Wisconsin took part in a “Heavy Metal Tour” on October 8 to experience jobs in manufacturing. Nearly 3,000 students throughout the state, including 1,400 in the Wausau and Antigo areas got the chance to learn about manufacturing careers, thanks to a partnership with local technical colleges and businesses.

NFPA member, JARP Industries, was one of the companies that participated and offered “Open House Tours” for parents that evening which allowed students to show their parents what they experienced.

NFPA is working to promote careers in fluid power by getting students interested at a young age. We provide grants for teachers to use fluid power kits in their classroom or to use to get students to an NFPA Fluid Power Challenge in their local community.
