Participants in the NFPA Future Leader Network had two unique networking opportunities during the recent NFPA Industry and Economic Outlook Conference. First up, a very well-attended networking lunch gave everyone an opportunity to not only chat with other members in a smaller, casual setting, but also to learn about the Internet of Things, presented by Karen Auguston Field of Penton Media. The group was fully engaged during Karen’s talk with discussion that pushed the time limits, leaving great take home value for the participants.
At the end of the IEOC program, Future Leader members had the opportunity to take a private tour of Parker Hannifin’s HCI facility in Lincolnshire, IL. NFPA member facility tours have been incorporated into the NFPA IEOC conference for a number of years now, and this year’s tour allowed a very special opportunity to see a well-performing peer business. There was enthusiasm from both the hosts and the guests in seeing and hearing about one company’s lean journey.
For those not yet part of the NFPA Future Leaders Network, the goal of this group is to provide education and networking opportunities to fluid power industry peers who are under 45 and are or aspire to be leaders of their companies and the Association. The current Chair of this group is Tom Hunter, Vice President Global Business Development, at HUSCO International. As said by Tom, who arranged the Parker facility tour, “It means a lot to us to be able to engage with NFPA member companies in this way, and it is especially powerful when we can do so with a group of emerging leaders within our industry.”
