The NFPA Education and Technology Foundation launched a new curriculum grant program this year that is providing awards to university engineering faculty to develop, replicate and disseminate high-quality, high-impact university-level fluid power curriculum. Now, halfway through our fiscal year, the first two awardees recently presented their progress on their projects, including:

  • Development of Fluid Power-Based Modules for Fluid Mechanics and Thermodynamics Courses Utilizing Problem-Based Learning and Entrepreneurially Minded Learning by L. Liu, Lawrence Technological University – download the presentation here.
  • Interactive Simulation Modules for Pneumatic and Hydraulic Circuits by J. Pagan, Ohio University – download the presentation here.

Both projects are already making an impact on their respective campuses and are on track to be completed by the end of the academic year. When finished, NFPA will be making the education modules—one geared to mechanical engineering programs and the other to engineering technology programs—available to its entire network of more than 60 university partners.
