NFPA Members Connect with Promising Students at Universities

Through NFPA’s new Speaker’s Bureau program, volunteers from member companies are going to universities to talk to students in fluid power, mechatronics, mechanical engineering, and other related programs about careers available in the fluid power industry. It’s all part of NFPA’s efforts to help increase the number of technical college and university students educated in fluid power and connect them to careers in the industry. Not only do these visits get more students aware of and excited about fluid power, they can also make recruitment easier for the companies involved.

Many thanks to the members and schools that have participated so far: Bimba Manufacturing Co. and Kaman Fluid Power at Purdue University, PARTsolutions at George Fox University, and Womack Machine Supply Co. at Oklahoma State University.

Participation is easy and open to any interested NFPA member. NFPA can provide a draft presentation that participants can customize with their own company information and experience. In addition, the Careers website has statistics about the types of jobs that are available, including salaries, job outlooks, and the types of degrees needed. There’s also a careers flyer to hand out to students.
