The NFPA Education and Technology Foundation has awarded a $25,000 fluid power lab grant to Cleveland Community College in Shelby, NC. The school will use the funds to purchase a new hydraulic trainer and upgrade an existing trainer with new proportional valves. It is anticipated that the new and upgraded trainers in the fluid power laboratory will be used by approximately 100 students each academic year.

The Foundation has awarded fluid power lab grants to eight two-year technical schools and two universities. Altogether, the new labs are being used by a total of nearly 995 students every year. In making the decision for giving awards, the school’s ability to acquire in-kind donations to maintain the lab and the number of students impacted are important factors.
