NFPA’s Membership Committee recently met via conference call on May 18, 2016. Following up on the committee’s previous meeting, the main topic of discussion was membership engagement and retention. The conversation revolved around an internal member engagement statistics report compiled by NFPA. The report details all of the various programs and services offered by the association, as well as which members engage in them and how often. Some of the more popular programs include the Confidential Shipment Statistics (CSS) Program, the various conferences NFPA hosts throughout the year, and the Pascal Society.
The membership committee made a number of suggestions as to how NFPA could best use the information in the report to increase member participation. The committee and staff members discussed how, although NFPA maintains an excellent membership retention rate (96% for 2014-15), increasing member participation and engagement helps boost retention and increase overall association value. It was noted by multiple members that seeing all of NFPA’s services and programs in one place emphasized the wide range of opportunities the association offers its member companies.

NFPA staff members present include Pete Alles – Director of Membership and Communications, Alex Hintz – Industry Marketing Manager, Leslie Miller – Membership Manager, and Katrina Schwarz – Association Marketing Manager.
