The NFPA Education and Technology Foundation has awarded fourteen $2,000 scholarships to students pursuing fluid power technology fields of study.

What does winning a Fluid Power Scholarship mean to you?
I have wanted to be an engineer since I was in fourth grade, and this scholarship means giving me the opportunity to achieve this dream. I have worked hard my entire high school career and receiving this scholarship shows recognition for all of my accomplishments.
Why did you choose to learn about fluid power?
I choose to learn about fluid power because it is really fascinating. My robotics team used fluid power in the form of pneumatics, usually to move an arm, or to shift a gearbox. It has been really helpful to us, but it does have its limits. The limitations in the ways that we use fluid power are what inspire me to learn more about it.
What are your career aspirations? What type of fluid power job do you hope to get after you graduate?
Once I graduate from college, I want to be a mechanical engineer and work in the robotics industry. I want to use fluid power to create new ways to design robots. Learning about fluid power in robotics opened up a new world of possibilities of what we can do with our robot and learning more about fluid power can create infinite possibilities.
The Foundation’s goal is to help individuals enrolled in high schools, technical colleges, and engineering schools pursue their interests in fluid power. We are currently accepting applications for the 2021 Fluid Power Scholarships until March 18, 2021.
