The NFPA Education and Technology Foundation has awarded $2,000 scholarships to students pursuing fluid power technology fields of study.
Here’s one of the winners, Connor Parrish. He is working on a Mechanical Engineering Technology degree at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma. We asked Connor about winning the scholarship . . .
What does winning this Fluid Power Scholarship mean to you?
Winning this scholarship means I can financially breathe easier this semester. This scholarship is the financial boost I needed to stay out of debt.
Why did you choose to learn about fluid power?
I didn’t actually initially choose to learn about fluid power, but it’s part of a degree requirement for mechanical engineering technology at Oklahoma State University. The class was very interesting and sparked an interest for fluid power.
What are your career aspirations? What type of fluid power job do you hope to get after you graduate?
My main career aspiration is to have a job I enjoy going to every day. I would love to have a job in the heavy equipment industry working for an OEM company.
The Foundation’s goal is to help individuals enrolled in high schools, technical colleges, and engineering schools pursue their interests in fluid power. For further information on the scholarships, contact Carrie Tatman Schwartz, Workforce Development Manager at email@example.com.
