Connect with University Students on Manufacturing Day

Manufacturing Day℠ (MFG Day) is an annual celebration of modern manufacturing meant to inspire the next generation of manufacturers. This year’s MFG Day will be Friday, October 4. Because of its alignment with our workforce development objectives, NFPA will again support events related to MFG Day through our own programs and by encouraging member companies to take part in MFG Day activities.

Manufacturing Day Endorsement

One way for NFPA members to become engaged in this year’s MFG Day activities is to visit a local university through NFPA’s Speaker’s Bureau program. The program connects our members to fluid power and mechanical engineering university classrooms and makes their companies visible to undergraduates before they join the workforce. In the program, participating members to students, especially in mechanical engineering programs, about fluid power and the career possibilities.

Preparing for your visit is easy. NFPA can provide a draft presentation template as well as many different resources for you to have when you visit, and we will work with you and the university to help coordinate the visit. Efforts like this not only get more students aware of and excited about careers in fluid power but can also make recruitment easier for the companies involved.

If you’re interested in being a part of the Speakers Bureau, have university contacts you’d like to share, or would like further information, please contact Amy Zignego at azignego@nfpa.com.

The students learn about fluid power, develop an awareness for the industry and careers, and get inspired to continue their fluid power education at the collegiate level. For example, 11 university students studying engineering will…
