Monthly briefings for 11 different industries have been updated on NFPA’s member hub. These short reports are produced by Oxford Economics and give quick insights into important industries. Highlights include:
Engineering and Metal Goods:
- US Machinery production fell by 0.7% month over month in June. June’s decrease reversed May’s 2.3% growth, which was the largest monthly expansion since December 2021.
- US machinery production appears to finally be bottoming out, according to Oxford.
- Germany saw a sharp drop in special purpose machinery production.
Construction:
- US housing starts grew 3% month over month in June, a positive turnaround after May’s 5.5% m/m decrease.
- “The Chinese real estate climate index continues to hover around historic lows but saw a rebound in June.”
- UK construction work grew 1.9% month over month in May. Growth was seen across all new work sectors.
