New Fluid Power Research: Four-Quadrant Multi-Fluid Pump/Motor

We’ve written before about the fluid power research projects coming out of the Center for Compact and Efficient Fluid Power. Ten new research projects have recently been selected for funding, and a number of these new projects were presented at the Industry/University Engagement Summit at Iowa State. One such project is the Four-Quadrant Multi-Fluid Pump/Motor project, which was presented by John Lumkes of Purdue University.

This project will focus on the design and simulation of digital pumps and motors for multi-fluid operation as well as evaluation of their feasibility. It will build upon existing technology and research by creating a novel mechanical control for digital pumps and motors in pursuit of making this technology approach more feasible.

This research is still in its initial stages. Industry contribution is welcome, particularly through component support and sponsorship.

Watch for project updates as the project progresses.
