Grants Continue to Help More Students Learn About Fluid Power

NFPA Fluid Power Action Challenge Grants continue to help schools bring fluid power educational opportunities to their students. We gave approximately 37 grants to 37 different schools during the 2015-16 school year, which impacted 2,403 students across the nation. These grants were provided to schools interested in bringing fluid power to their classrooms through fluid power classroom activities or Fluid Power Action Challenge events participation. Schools have also used these funds for other activities relating to fluid power. Crest Middle School in Shelby, NC used their Classroom Activities Grant funds to:

  • Take 2 teams to the countywide Fluid Power Action Challenge at Cleveland Community College, and
  • Go on a field trip to Cleveland Community College to visit the Automation Lab

Starting in this new school year of 2016-17, all NFPA Fluid Power Action Challenge Grant amounts have been increased, allowing school teachers to provide more activities to more students. Grants for classroom activities have gone from $250 to $500 and grants for Challenge Events have increased from $1,000 to $1,400 (within the school) and $3,500 to $4,000 (public event).

We have already received 16 applications for this school year that will have a potential impact on 719 students, a number we hope to increase as the year goes by.
