FORCE America teamed up with Alexandria Technical and Community College again this year to sponsor a Fluid Power Action Challenge. In addition to the Challenge, the company hosted a tour of their facility for attending teachers. This year’s event was a sizeable one. Together with mechatronics department at Alex Tech, FORCE America provided judges for the 12 participating teams, which were made up of 44 students from seven Minnesota middle schools.
Here are just a few notable extracts from the feedback received by teachers and impact it made for their students.
“I felt that the students worked well together, each using their unique talents in some way on the project. This is a great activity to get students aware of the many uses of fluid power. This is the second year we have gone up to the challenge in Alexandria, and I hope to take two groups again next year.” – Melrose Middle School
“Having participated in the NFPA Action Challenge the last two years, it has been decided to include fluid power curriculum in my fab lab or maker space lab for next year.” – Fergus Falls
“This was Campbell-Tintah’s second Fluid Power Challenge. The students in seventh grade are already talking about next year’s contest.” – Campbell Tintah
